Also called Permanent Health Insurance (PHI), Income Protection offers financial peace of mind for employees and their families by providing a replacement income if the employee is unable to work for a long period, whilst at the same time, relieving the employer of the financial and moral burden of supporting an ill or injured employee.

Many schemes provide a disability counselling service for claimants, giving support and practical advice and encouraging an early or gradual return to work. Some insurers reduce premiums if proven risk reduction strategies are in place.
